Jay Wojnowski
Chief Jay Wojnowski (whoa-now-ski) comes to us from Encinitas, CA where he spent the last 33 years working in Fire and EMS Services. He began his career in 1990 as an EMT working for AirEvac ambulance and became a Paramedic in 1993 working for Springs ambulance in Palm Springs, CA and Hartson and AMR in San Diego. In 1998 he began his Fire Service career with the City of El Cajon Fire Department and finished his career with Heartland Fire & Rescue in east county San Diego. Jay held the ranks of Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, and Division Chief.
Jay graduated with his bachelor’s degree from California Coast University, Santa Ana and completed his Paramedic training at Palomar College. He has experience in Emergency Management, Incident Command, HAZMAT, Rescue Systems, Fire and EMS Operations, Fire Officer and Chief Officer training and many leadership courses.
Jay’s responsibilities as a Chief Officer included; EMS, Operations, Administration, Logistics, Fleet, and Support services. Jay has been a Health and Safety Officer, Designated Infection Control Officer and member of a PEER Support team. Jay has been on many EMS and Health and Safety Committees helping write policies to improve the health and safety of first responders.
